I've been plagued by the following 2 issues for a while now:

    1) Is there a way to have Windows Explorer quickly skip over an offline network drive when listing devices on the (My) Computer screen? I'm sick of having Windows Explorer freeze for a whole minute while it waits for the timeout.

    2) Is there a way to completely decouple Windows Explorer windows from each other and from the shell (taskbar and start menu)? The "Launch folder windows in a separate process" option helps with performance issues, but when any instance of explorer.exe crashes, it still takes down every other instance along with it anyway, even though they're theoretically separate processes.

You can try un-checking "automatic search for printer and network folders" option (folder option).

Not that I am aware of.

    cheers ...
