The title is wrong. It is June 2014 market share.

Oh my... Now they're even losing market share? To everything, including Windows XP, and even Vista? Fun times...

It started early on, well before I started posting the monthly threads. My guess is using the currents months name is so that we can add to the thread through the month. Historically it is only posted towards the beginning though so you are correct in that respect. I've thought about changing it too but again I had not started the monthly threads here, just continued to beat the dead horse so to say.

Statistically the numbers are too low to show any major trend. If this happens again though, well that could be a major event. It does not even need to happen in subsequent months either. My true hope is if these numbers pan out it throws the deserved fear into Redmond to get it right, Right Now!

Edit; Even growth stagnation can be seen as trouble for the OS/UI. This as no growth is equal to no acceptance of the UI. If other companies see consumers not adopting it could not only open opportunity for them but also send a message to outside developers as well.

Stagnation of the new Windows OS at around 12% market share, almost two years after hitting the market? I don't know how many more different ways you can spell "complete and utter disaster"...

While I may agree it is not our view points that matter in the end. It is the market that will ultimately decide. Consumers are making their choices known and since it is their money all these companies want it is them in the end that will be followed. If M$ will not follow those pockets then other companies and developers eventually will.

 Someone was just looking for a way to use that headline. It's almost like, "Windows 2000 triples in market share in June as Windows 8 declines!" Technically it is true that Win2K gained more marketshare than Windows 8, but I wouldn't expect that trend to continue indefinitely. If it does, we'll be seeing "Windows 2000 cracks 20% marketshare, poised to overtake XP!" headlines in January.

Agreed, people are just having way too much fun at Windows 8's expense.

Remember this is called "Foot in Mouth" Disease....they had all the chances to make a O/S ever better Product/Experience but decided to stick their foot in their mouth first.....They did this all to themselves...the Tester and Preview tester told them otherwise but they never listened so all the flak they get is their own fault. This isn't the cause the "Customer is Right" but that those testing had some good inputs that should've been listened to instead were called dumb...that really doesn't show ones lack intelligent to that community and thinking outside of the box not thinking inside of outside the box.

But how did XP see a bump up in use? Must be within the "margin of error."

Hey if it works for the unemployment numbers, why not XP as well. :hi2:
