Are areas other than RAM affected (score wise on the WEI assessment) by the amount of RAM you have?

I had an A42JV notebook, but it had some issues and I traded it in for K42JV which only has 2 GB. The processor and GPU are the same yet now my Windows experience score for Aero Performance is 3.9. It was 4.2 with the other notebook. Could the difference possible be due to having 2GB instead of 4GB now...Or could it possibly be due to a different motherboard?

Also I see people with the same processor scoring 6.7 (i5 450) for the processor score, yet I'm scoring 6.2... What could account for the difference? Motherboard?

I realize the WEI doesn't mean much, but it's bugging me all the same.

In terms of the WEI (and in general), your system is only as fast as your slowest component.

Thank you for your reply.. Yes, the Aero score is being determined by the Intel HD. So 2gb vs 4gb could change the Aero score?

Looks like you went from a NVIDIA GeForce GT 335M to Intel HD graphics, which would definitely cause a lower WEI score.

As for the processor, the wei score is probably useless and is generally considered to be. If you really want to compare, you should run true benchmarking software like 3dMark.

....Both laptops are the exact same specs. The Aero is testing the Intel HD on the same exact processor (i5 450). The previous laptop scored 4.2... Now this one is scoring 3.9.

    The 335m is scoring 6.2.

I'm trying to figure out how the exact same processor (i5 450) and GPU (Intel HD) is scoring lower on this model. They're identical..Using the same processor, gpu and motherboard (HM55)...The only difference is the RAM...But I'm not sure if the RAM actually will affect the Aero score. This is occupying way too much space in my head and I can't trade back to the other model because they already sent it back to Bangkok.

Has anyone upgraded their RAM and seen their Aero performance score increase?

Since you have less system ram, the Intel HD igp has less shared ram available to it. Hence, a lower score.

Was the display driver the same version? The newest Intel GMA video driver should increase the WEI according to some info at another forum!

Good thought Max. I'm not sure.... I will have to check and see if the latest Intel HD driver has been installed on the new notebook.
