Hi everyone, I have been searching for days but I can't seem to find what I am looking for. I am looking for advice on how to properly install Windows 7 on a 30 GB SSD and then store all other files on my second 500 GB HDD. I went ahead and tried to do it myself and love how fast Windows 7 is with the SSD, I have successfully redirected my libraries to the 500GB drive but still some programs forcefully install on the SSD, also the Common Files are accumulating on my SSD and it's nearly full because of this. I have however read that you must make some changes during installation? I have tried editing the registry (CommonFilesDir and ProgramFilesDir) with little to no luck. If anyone can help me out I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

You can hardlink them to your 500GB harddrive.

Move them and then create a hardlink.

    move "c:\program files" "d:\program files"

    mklink /j "c:\program files" "d:\program files"

You can do the same for the other folders.

I must say if your going to have the majority of your program files and stuff on the HDD whats the point of the SSD... to boot up 5 seconds faster?

You would be surprised how well my pc is working now that I have a SSD, everything is faster. And thanks surf, I'll try that after a clean install.

You can try it now. You gotta boot into safe mode to do it though.
