My System Restore is turned on and is making restore points, however I cannot access those points. When I try to, I get:

Those articles are for PC backup. My system restore reports that no restore points exist and that all restore is turned off, however I just defragged 6 GB of restore points. After I deleted those points, I regained 6 GB.

FWIW, I get the same thing in Vista; I wanted to restore to pre SP2 but, alas, no restore points.

AHA! I just googled my problem and Guess what? If you dual boot Vista and XP, whenever you boot into XP, it wipes out your Vista restore points (I didn't know that):

Are you dual booting W7 with XP (or Vista)?

OK, I created a restore point in W7 then shut down and booted into Vista, shut down and rebooted into W7 and the restore point was still there. I shut down and booted into XP, then shut down and rebooted into W7 and the restore point was gone.

So, are you dual booting W7 and XP? If so, that may be your problem.

Your original post talked about "element not found". That is why I posted the links I found. Please don't change the original content of your post after someone responds. It tends to make responses sound like gibberish.

Yes sorry, I had to since some people don't read past the first post when replying. But the element not found error was solved with a reboot.

I am not dual booting anything. Windows 7 Ultimate x64 is the sole OS on my laptop.
