    Hello,

I have read at many places that OEMs are making customers who purchased after June 2nd eligible to a cheap W8 upgrade. I was wondering if that is also the case for people that purchase a legal W7 DVD from MS's store (or download the software)?

    Thank you.

No? The reason you can get Win 8 cheap with a Win 7 PC purchase is because the manufacturers want to sell more PCs now, instead of having customers wait until Win 8 is released to buy a new PC.

Given how easy it is to use Windoes 7 for 120 days for free without doing anything illegal, I don't see the point.

Use an ISO in my sig, and search for windows 7 120 days

Even if you do nothing, it works 30 days, enough to figure out if you want to buy W7 or W8. I don't think many people would want both..

So if you buy a pc without operating system and purchase a windows 7 separately would you still qualify for the upgrade?

No. Few OEMs sell non-OS computers anyway, and in order to get the W8 upgrade you have to purchase a computer *with* W7 installed. You're basically describing OP's situation.
