I plan to buy new notebook with Windows 7. It is SONY VAIO NW Series VGN-NW250F/B. The Windows 7 that came with that notebook is 64-bit.

How is the compatibility of 64-bit Windows to 32-bit application software? Is there any problem? Since I only have all 32-bit software, e.g: MS Office, Nero Burning ROM, games, etc..

    Thank you.

You'll be fine, running 32-bit apps on a 64-bit OS is not a problem 99.9% of the time.

No need to use patch or something like that? Because the notebook will be used by my brother who don't really understand about stuffs like that...

No sir, no patch needed. Just proceed as you normally would. :)

Most 32Bit software works on current 64Bit OSes - 16Bit applications won't work though.

The only 32bit applications that might not work are AV and firewall products, since they have to tightly integrate with the OS. That being said, most of these same products also have 64bit versions available as well.

A lot of users here use 64-bit Vista or 7 and have had little or no problems with compatibility for 32-bit programs.
