Hi all, I have a wanted ad placed on a local forum, looking for a legal copy of Windows 7 64 bit.
I've had a few people respond to me saying that they have a copy they can sell me, and that it does not require any serial #, etc. Are these legit?? One of the guys mentioned something about a technet acct, etc.

    Thanks!

Come on, what do YOU think? Of course any version that you would buy from a third party that does not require a serial # is NOT legit. The technet account versions are registered to the technet account user any sale or sharing of that is illegal, period.

That's why I'm asking! Just a bit confused about it as I didn't realize there were any versions that didn't require a serial number, regardless of whether they are retail, or from some sort of 'account'..

All of those require serials, at least after the 30day period.

You don't need a serial, if you are using a Royalty-OEM disc with matching bios in your computer.

Third version is a pirate disc from some online shop, usually it's just relabeled "autoactivating" warez image. Very possible that such thing was offered to you.
