21H1 isn't much of a big change since it shares the same cumulative updates as 2004 & 20H2 (yawn )

They aren't bugs they are features, I wonder how much more telemetry they have injected and how much more that have castrated Windows Pro feature wise as they sure love to castrate their OS's features which allows the pro's to be on point. :biglaugh:

From What I have seen in 21H2 dev build is that, Telemetry can't turned off during setup, you can only to No optional diagnostic data sent which means general telemetry data is sent back and forth. I did test it in a VBox.

MSFT are very intelligent, their OS worked with 0% CPUusage and no lags. Used 1.1GB post install regtweaks, dx9, vc++ runtimes etc.
Still NVMe drives are slow as hell to bootup because of longer PCIe initialization time.

    So true, so sad.

I turn on my laptop, by the time I the manufacturer screen appears, let alone Windows starts to load, my wife's 8 year old Dell Vostro which has a SATA Crucial MX500 SSD would've been on the Windows desktop.

My 10 year ideapad has BX500 and Windows 10 boots in 5 sec and Linux in 10 sec. I'm looking at AW logo still spinning on newer NVMe with 2GB R/W speeds over 30 secs.
Only way to achieve fast boot speed in NVMe is by hibernate.

MS did release a set of 21H1 (build 19043.928) insider preview ISOs several days ago (got one listed from here). upgraded one of my test PCs using the 21H1 ISO and things seem to be going well

    HUH?
My less than a year old lappy runs a NVME as boot and from touching the power button till calmed down and fully loaded desktop is right at 5 seconds...if that.
I have never seen a spinning wheel on this machine unless it's doing a update and I have close to 4Gb read and write speeds.

Yeah, fake boot help on the startup. Even on the slower 500MB read and write speed disks.

In my early insider iso test of 21h2 we can remove cortana w/o affecting windows search.
Its better to have working first party apps when third party apps is much faster like void tools. I think powertoys search is almost there.

    For the brave one :)
    KB5003214 [manual download] Windows 10 21H1, 20H2 and 2004 1904x.1021 as a non-security update
Microsoft has provided KB 5003214 as an optional non-security update (now referred to as a preview update) for Windows 10 21H1, 20H2 and 2004. The version number makes a big leap compared to the May security update to 19043.1021, 19042.1021 and 19041.1021.

Win 10 21H1 isn’t much different than the previous tragedy

    https://www.google.no/amp/s/mspoweruser.com/microsoft-removes-last-windows-10-upgrade-blocks/amp/

The last remaining issues have been due to Conexant or Synaptics audio drivers which were causing Windows 10 users to receive a stop error with a blue screen, which would trigger an automatic roll-back to an older version of Windows 10.

Microsoft says if you experienced this issue in the past it is now safe to try again, saying:

“If this occurs, you should attempt to update to Windows 10, version 2004 or Windows 10, version 20H2 again.”

what kind of computer are you using, Sergenewer? I don't seem to have this problem on a 21H1 test computer (a custom built PC with a Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 R2 board)
post specs of your machine after running Speccy

yeah MS had recently lifted the conexant driver upgrade blocks thinking it's now safe to update to 2004, 20H2 or 21H1 than several weeks or months ago when those upgrade blocks were in place

    https://www.neowin.net/news/microsoft-releases-windows-10-build-190431023-with-news-and-interests/

noted in MS support article 5003214

    {aaaahhhh - the price I paid for being MS's "guinea pig" for installing this preview update. fortunately there is a way to disable News and Interests as noted here.}

When we had Solitaire on Windows 7, that game was there and worked for years. Can someone explain to me the logic why a simple cards game gets updated thrice a week by the MS Store?

Maybe they have to update the telemetry and dump new trojans to keep everyone on their toes.

On a more serious note, no. There is NO LOGIC to explain it, only stupidity.

    KB5003637 [manual download] June security update Windows 10 21H1, 20H2 and 2004 1904x.1052

It's Patchday June and with it comes the security update KB 5003637 for Windows 10 21H1, 20H2 and 2004. The new version numbers are 19043.1052, 19042.1052 and 19041.1052.

    Known issues with KB5003637
    • System and user certificates may be lost when upgrading a device from Windows 10, version 1809 or later to a later version of Windows 10. Devices are only affected if they have already installed a Latest Cumulative Update (LCU) released on September 16, 2020 or later and then proceed with the update to a later version of Windows 10 from media or an installation source that does not contain an LCU released on October 13, 2020 or later. Workaround: go back to the previous version.
    • A small group of users have reported lower than expected game performance after installing this update. Most of the users affected by this issue run games in full screen or borderless windowed mode and use two or more monitors.
    • If you use the Microsoft Japanese Input Method Editor (IME) to enter Kanji characters in an app that automatically allows you to enter Furigana characters, you may not get the correct Furigana characters. You may have to enter the furigana characters manually.
      - After installing this update, 5.1 Dolby Digital audio playback may contain a high-pitched noise or squeaking noise when using certain audio devices and Windows settings in certain apps. Note: This problem does not occur when using stereo.
    • For devices with Windows installations created from custom offline media or custom ISO images, Microsoft Edge Legacy may be removed by this update, but not automatically replaced with the new Microsoft Edge. This issue only occurs when creating custom offline media or ISO images by slipstreaming this update into the image without first installing the stand-alone Servicing Stack Update (SSU) dated March 29, 2021 or later.
    • You can read about all outstanding problems here
    • Should the error 0x800f0988 appear, you can try it with Ben's script . That has already helped many, even in previous versions.
    • The error code 0x800f0922 may be because you have uninstalled Microsoft Edge . If you install it manually and then start the update, it will also run.
    Problems fixed by KB5003637
    • Updates to improve security when using input devices such as a mouse, keyboard or pen.
    • Updates to improve the security of Windows OLE (compound documents).
    • Username and password verification updates.
    • Updates to improve security when Windows performs basic operations.
    • Updates for storing and managing files.

Nice list :D Amazing this OS works with all its bugs https://blogs.windows.com/windows-i...3-1081-21h1-to-beta-release-preview-channels/

This update includes the following improvements:
    • We fixed an issue that causes blurry text on the news and interests button on the Windows taskbar for some display configurations.
    • We fixed an issue that causes communication between apps to stop working after you enable the “AppMgmt_COM_SearchForCLSID” policy.
    • We fixed a performance issue in the MultiByteToWideChar() function that occurs when it is used in a non-English locale.
    • We fixed an issue that prevents sorting from working properly when using multiple versions of National Language Support (NLS) sorting.
    • We fixed an issue in a small subset of users that have lower than expected performance in games after installing KB5000842 or later.
    • We fixed an issue that causes the Japanese Input Method Editor (IME) to suddenly stop working while you are typing.
    • We fixed an issue that causes WMIMigrationPlugin.dll to return an error when you attempt to migrate in offline mode.
    • We fixed an issue with the Set-RuleOption PowerShell command that fails to provide the option for the Windows Defender Application Control (WDAC) policy to treat files signed with an expired certificate as unsigned.
    • We fixed an issue that causes Windows to stop working when it uses AppLocker to validate a file that has multiple signatures. The error is 0x3B.
    • We fixed an issue that might cause BitLocker to go into recovery mode after updating the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) firmware. This occurs when the “Interactive logon: Machine account lockout Threshold” policy is set and there were incorrect password attempts.
    • We fixed an issue that causes Windows to generate many AppLocker or SmartLocker success events.
    • We fixed an issue with authenticating for a domain controller when Credential Guard and Remote Credential Guard are enabled.
    • We fixed an issue that prevents certain screen reader apps from running when Hypervisor-protected code integrity (HVCI) is enabled.
    • We fixed an issue in which signing in using a PIN fails. The error message is “Something happened and your PIN isn’t available. Click to set up your PIN again.”
    • We added Windows support for System Management Mode protections (firmware protection version 2.0) for certain processors that support Secure Launch.
    • We fixed an issue that, in certain cases, takes you out of the exclusive virtual reality (VR) app and back to Windows Mixed Reality Home when you press the Windows button on the controller. With this update, when you press the Windows button, the Windows Start menu appears. When you close the Start menu, you will go back to the exclusive VR app.
    • We improved the accuracy and efficiency of sensitive data analysis in the Microsoft 365 Endpoint data loss prevention (DLP) Classification Engine.
    • We fixed an issue with the Internet Key Exchange (IKE) VPN service on remote access server (RAS) servers. Periodically, users cannot connect a VPN to the server over the IKE protocol. This issue might start several hours or days after restarting the server or restarting the IKEEXT service. Some users can connect while many others cannot connect because the service is in DoS Protection mode, which limits incoming connection attempts.
    • We fixed an issue that causes Wi-Fi connections to fail because of an invalid Message Integrity Check (MIC) on a four-way handshake if Management Frame Protection (MFP) is enabled.
    • We fixed an issue that might cause a VPN to fail after renewing a user auto-enrolled certificate. The error message is “There are no more files”.
    • We fixed an issue with the Tunnel Extensible Authentication protocol (TEAP) that replaces the outer identity with “anonymous” even though identity privacy is not selected or is disabled.
    • We fixed an issue that causes Remote Desktop sessions to stop responding while the User Datagram Protocol (UDP) is enabled.
    • We added support for the USB Test and Measurement Class.
    • We fixed an issue in Adamsync.exe that affects the syncing of large Active Directory subtrees.
    • We fixed an error that occurs when the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) bind cache is full, and the LDAP client library receives a referral.
    • We fixed a redirector stop error that is caused by a race condition that occurs when the system deletes binding objects when connections close.
    • We fixed an issue that prevents users from setting or querying disk quotas on the C drive.
    • We fixed an issue that causes 16-bit apps that run on NT Virtual DOS Machine (NTVDM) to stop working when you open them.
    • We fixed an issue that causes fontdrvhost.exe to stop working when Compact Font Format version 2 (CFF2) fonts are installed.
    • We fixed an issue that might prevent End User Defined Characters (EUDC) from printing correctly because of font fallback settings.
    • We fixed an issue with Search box graphics on the Windows taskbar that occurs if you use the taskbar’s context menu to turn off News and interests. This graphics issue is especially visible when using dark mode.
    • We fixed an issue that might cause signing in with your fingerprint to fail after the system starts up or resumes from sleep.
    • We fixed an issue that might redirect you to the Microsoft Store page for Gaming Services when you try to install or start an Xbox Game Pass game on your Windows 10 device. Additionally, you receive error 0x80073D26 or 0x8007139F. For more information, see KB5004327.
    Thanks,
    The Windows Insider Program Team.

And Microsoft build Win 11 on top of this OS

Perhaps it is fitting based on the knowledge and skill level of the average PC user, but they have been on a downhill slide since W8.X was released where they just keep making Windows dumber and dumber. It's like they want every PC to be of little more value and complexity than a kiosk. They add a useful feature now and then, but they keep adding more useless garbage and remove more useful features than they add.
