I recently bought the MSI s270 notebook, and yesterday I installed winXP pro (sp2) and started moving files from my desktop to my notebook. When I was configuring the notebook energy save-settings winxp froze. The program wouldn't respond and my only option was to reboot.

After the boot, win Xp refused to go past the loading screen (black background with colored windows flag and loading bar). If I enter safe mode (not sure if thats what it's called in english) only a white dot blinks in the uppe left corner and windows doesn't load.

OK. Then I figured it's no big deal, I can always reformat and install windows again since I hadn't done much with the comp yet. Nothing would get lost.

But now it wont install! My boot order is correct (cd first) and after the blue screen appears (with a lot of loading going on on the bottom in white text) I suddenly get a black screen with a white dot (or "-") blinking in the upper left corner. And that's it! Nothing else happens.. I never get to the menu that asks for repair/install etc.

Anyone have any idea on what the hell I should do?

Take out the battery, unplug it and let it sit for about 2-4 minutes. Put the battery back in, plug it in and you should be set.

I don't know why this works, but it usually does. That is, of course, if you didn't screw things up with a partial install. If it works after that, you may have to re-do the install.
