ok so im thinking about getting the ASUS Eee Box 204 and getting a USB tv tuner so my mum can use it a a TV in the kitchen ( ive got a spare LCD) and im just wondering if anyone has installed win7 HP on a netbook with similar specks... also would most probs upgrade to 2 gb ram.

anyway my main concern is if an un changed clean install of W7 HP with possibly just office antivirus and TV tuner be able to run fine on this cpu?

    cheers

    mini-box m200 and m300..

just the ordinary atom based systems, they are all the same (and if i say the same, i mean exactly the same)..

2gb ram are a must for vista, but for win7, they are just nice to have (still, nice to have means something :))

My friend is running Windows 7 on an Acer Aspire One with all visual effects enabled, so I think you'll be absolutely fine.

the revo has the 330, which is a dualcore processor (with two hyperthreads each). so it could be quite a bit faster depending on the case.

well, so far a lot of people who tested the atom 330 said, for most usage, it doesn't perform better than the 230 or similar. in my case, it made my system quite a bit more snappy, so i like the 330..

but it looks like it's not the best dual core solution on the planet :)

as stated before, all those atoms are about the same. it should fit your moms needs, yes.

i don't own the revo, nor the other, but if you've seen one, you've seen them all. there are no real differences in any of them.

what are her needs? email, word, excel, some music listening, internet, non-hd youtube maybe? then yes, it will be good enough for her for sure.

it might.. at least the ACER one, as it's an ION based system (ION being the chipset from nvidia, not the default one from intel). and the ION has a better gpu, allowing some hd acceleration.

so it might be enough, depends a bit on the hd material (high data rate or not, 720p or 1080p.. 720p should work without bigger issues)
