    Hi
I hope somebody can help me with this problem.

I have 250gb HDD on dell xps1530, out of which c drive has 220gb. Rest are recovary and dell media direct partition.
Out of 220 GB on C drive, only 167gb are remaining, means 53 GB has been occupied by some files.

When I select all files on C drive, I only see 13.9 GB, so who is occupying the remaining space ? An How can I regain it ?

    it happened to me too.
for me it was system restore taking all the space.
    do a disk clean up.
in addition, select "more options" and "clean up"/delete "system restore and shadow copies". NOTE THAT YOU WILL BE LEFT WITH JUST ONE RESTORE POINT AFTERWARDS!!!

Here's what I use on customer's computers. Download the trial version of FolderSizes. This will display folders in the C: in a bar graph format. Then you can drill down and find just what is of such size.

Just recently, I had a box in here that used 80 some gigs on a XP installation. Hmm. That seemed way too much to me. With Foldersizes I drilled down in the User's folder and found many American Idol tv shows. The owner didn't want them, and I easily cleared out about 40 gigs.

    Thanks for the input.
I tried few of the steps but still cant get it. I tried making All files non-hidden but that doesnt work.
Trouble is that on properties, it says 49.5 GB occupied but I can only see 13.5 GB files, 35 GB is missing !!!!!

If you really want the space back and don't want to lose it again, you'll probably have to turn off System Restore, not just do a clean up job of the system.

Actually it did work that way. I removed all system resore points other than latest one and Now I have only 9 GB as hidden.

    Thanks again

Since Calvin already posted my guide, I won't post the link again, but it's clear you haven't read it. People make guides to answer these questions which come up over and over, so when someone posts a link to a guide, read it.

Unless you NEED that space, don't go deleting Restore points, or anything else for that matter. If you are just annoyed that your disk is being used, get over it. You paid for that disk space and you should let the system use it to provide a useful feature for you until such time that you have something more valuable to use it for.
