I'm probably the odd duck here but I use Unison over SSH via Cygwin. Not something I'd recommend for a novice.

SyncBack PRO here, been using it for years

Basically I set the source and the destination as my external USB drive and within seconds it finds the differences between the source and the destination and copies or deletes the data from the destination to make them a perfect match. You have to select MIRRORING s the backup type to have the contents of the destination be matched with the contents of the source

They also have a free version that does the same thing but with a few more options, does the job as well if you ask me

Oh, yeah, probably the simplest thing out there is Sync Toy. It's a free tool from Microsoft. I've used it before. Good for what it is but not sufficient for my needs. If you're looking for a file-level backup tool then Robocopy GUI or RichCopy, two more freebies from Microsoft, are worth looking at.

Anyone used GoodSync? How is it? Looks great. Wondering if it's reliable.

I seem to recall looking at GoodSync but passed on it. I don't recall why.
