I have a Sony FW190 laptop with Realtek Soundcard and ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470. Where should I download ATI HDMI Audio Driver? The one from ATI site or the one from Realtek site? Does the Realtek soundcard play any role if I use HDMI cable to connect to an external TV or does the ATI card take over the whole thing?

Thanks but the driver from Sony site is too old. I can get newer one either from ATI or RealTek. Both are recent but they look different.

ATI doesn't provide mobile drivers, as silly as that sounds. You'd need to DL the desktop driver package plus CCC, then use a program called Mobility Modder to automatically edit the INF files, allowing the driver to install on a mobile variant without a problem. That's the only way to get the latest ATI drivers.

Never mind. Out of the 3 sources; Sony, ATI and Realtek; Realtek has the latest driver. So, I would just keep checking Realtek website for the latest driver. They usually update their drivers every month.

The ATI driver has the ATI HDMI Driver as a part of it.

For your laptop its part of your motherboard drivers probably from your laptop manufactures site or the disk that came with your laptop.

Desktop cards are stand alone, and have there own connections thus the driver being part of the ATI CCC download. Laptop is proprietary and uses the manufactures drivers, and in most cases that is probably realtek stuff.
