    Hi,

As the subject line says, I am awaiting the arrival of my new XPS 15 laptop, comes with 1TB HDD and 128gb SSD,

Does Dell install the OS (Win 8) on the HDD or the SDD? Hopefully the SSD would be the logical choice, but i cant find a definitive answer,

if it is on the HDD how can I do a clean install with no discs??

    Thanks

Probably the SSD since it's a fairly good capacity one. But with Dell, you never know for sure. I mean Alienware I know does, but Dell...

Unless specified otherwise (by them or by your request), they should install it on the SSD and make that your primary drive. If they do it reversely by default, then...

To do a clean install, you need installation media. If the system has the ability to back up the recovery to a disc, then you can create recovery discs and then use them to install the factory image on the SSD. Or you can clone/image the HDD to the SSD, but then you will need third party software to clone, as well as to align the drives.

SSD would be a logical choice, thus utilizing the speed advantages of the drive.
