I was just going through the list of startup items to disable Windows Defender related entries when I saw this entry for XTU that is dated back to December although I have just installed this latest build of Windows 10 1607 4 days ago

Where on earth did this come from?

XTU has been installed on that computer at one point, and the uninstall didn't remove XTU files.

It's not uncommon for an uninstaller to leave files behind during an uninstall, that's why I use an uninstaller tool like IOBit Uninstaller to clean up after the uninstaller is "done".

No man, I don't even have the setup file for XTU nor will I ever install or keep that virus on my computer.

Could this be related to the Clevo Control Center @Prema ??

As I mentioned, this is a fresh new clean install of Windows 10 just done 3 days ago

That's pretty weird... I checked and Intel didn't include XTU with Windows 10 AU, as there are threads talking about XTU driver signing issues when trying to install, and Intel replying they couldn't replicate the problem.

Maybe you were sleep installing XTU? ;)

Clevos Control Center uses the same access into the EC controller as XTU Turbo FANs stuff, so it maybe some shared stuff. It's not like I have seen it being bundled with CCC, but I have neither taken it apart to see it's actual components either...yet.

I hope someone with the Control Center installed can carefully go through their startup items as shown in the pic above (it's below in the items not the top ones) and see if they have this XTU entry there

I have CC disabled / uninstalled. Nothing tempts me in this Bloatware. Absolutely nothing!! I'll start up and see if I can find the same file as you have later tonight. Clevo is one of the few brand that almost recommend that you can use XTU for overclocking if you have the correct cpu. Maybe some Xtu settings is hooked up in Nvram after first time use? Who knows what happens if you have had Xtu installed earlier and CC share the same stuff after install ? Have you cleared Cmos after previous use of XTU?

I also did not find this on my machine. I shall installing the latest version of Autoruns and see if it finds more. Maybe the last version of CC has something to do with this? I will installing the last CC also and look after this. @bloodhawk Do you use latest CC?
Edit. Ps I have not installed Windows 10 Anniversary yet

It may well be the last CC can be the culprit. Because I think Clevo added CPU overclocking in last CC v5.0001.0.73 for DM2-3... If I read it correctly and CC 0.73 is for DM2-3.

WTF:eek:... XTU service included on the last CC. Tested newest CC ver v5.0001.0.73 just now. But XTU installer is not included in the programs and functions (where you delete installed software in windows). Perverse!!!! Latest version CC v5.0001.0.73 is intended for the new DM2-3 and most likely not the old P870.

Controll panel contains no CPU clocking for P870DM-G, such as the new model.

CC ver 73 Cpu/memory Overclocking work for the new P870DM2-3 ↓↓↓↓↓

    Let that go @HTWingNut! :D

Nah, but I gues it has something to do with stuff not sticking after reboots and it was messing up the fan profiles on certain models. And they would have to uninstall and reinstall and a few other things. To get it to work part of the time. So the concensus is not not use it at all.
Me, I'll use it if it's the only thing working and nothing better for that particular situation.

hey bro, if I have the Windows 7 USB that you want, how can I make an image of it?

ImageUSB creates a forsenic image which means, the ISO will be huge as it takes into consideration even the free space on that USB. Any other suggestion?

So I uninstalled Control Center AP v5.0001.0.73 and removed all file and registry remnants using Revo Uninstaller then rebooted. Next, I installed Control Center AP v5.0001.0.50 and there is no XTU service! :)

You're awesome! If you just dump the content into a folder then .rar/zip it I should be able to work with that.
That should avoid the size issues of the image too.
