Okay, I'm pretty sure I had Aero when I first got this computer, and I updated the Vista rating, ( it's 5.1 ), and now Aero is not lited anywhere under any options. what gives?

Do you have transparency around your windows and taskbar? It isn't listed as Aero.

Have you rebooted? Have you installed any video drivers recently?

Nope , same drivers that came with the laptop, rebooted plenty of times. I can't figure out why Aero isn't listed as an option when my system can obviously handle it.

"At the bottom of the Windows Color and Appearance window click “Open classic appearance properties for more color options

Clicking window color and appearance leads me right to the classic menu, and Aero is not listed.

Ah, I disabled it when I was following Vista perfomance tweaks.

Go start --> run --> services.msc and stop and/or disable the "Desktop Window Manager Session Manager" service (no thats not a typo, they have manager twice in the name).

    Now I can stop obsessing.

Dude, make sure that you have Activated Windows! If it's not activated within 30 days you will lose Aero

Windows was activated, I disabled aero via the Vista tweaks located on this site, and didnt realize that that I was actually disabling Aero.
