I just got a new HP nc8430, and I want to know what I use to check how hot my computer is getting. Is there any other software you would recommend for a new laptop?

NHC, I agree. I don't use it for anything else but temps, and it does that wonderfully. Doesn't seem to take long to load or slow my lappy down, so I give my vote to that.

Used speedfan, but HD temps do not seem to update correctly.

I'll check out mobile meter though.

I agree, NHC rocks. Gives me temp readings, and allows me to change my CPU speeds, etc, for when I'm on battery power and get awesome battery life.
