Ok, so I got NHC and ad-aware. I have the x700, so should I get the omega drivers? I heard that they are not as good as they used to be?

Is there any other stuff that is recommended?

    Thanks

I'd install SpywareBlaster - prevents spyware from being installed. Also might want to get an AV program. Avast! is good.

I use the Omega drivers - the latest 5.10a are pretty stable, haven't run into any issues. Recommended. Also the Catalyst 5.10 Mobility are stable too, use them if you are having issues with the Omegas.

is there any improvement on FPS with the Omegas over the Catalyst? i have both driver installs on my computer right now and tried omegas with no improvement, didn't mess with overclocking.

I never noticed a difference in speed from Omega and the regular Cats...but in games, it seems that I had crashes when using Omega, but not with the Cats. Plus, the tray tool didn't seem to work with the latest Omegas, so I just stuck with the 5.10 Catalyst drivers.

Spywareguard is good, too. Also by javacools. Spybot-Search and Destroy is also a must. I really love the tea timer feature that keeps things from changing registry settings w/out asking. XPtune is good, oh, and a firewall. I like sygate or zonealarm.

Opera, Firefox, or some other browser, as well as the suggested anti-virus and firewall would be good.

On a sort of similar note, backup! :p :D
