    Hi Everybody!
We'd like to open a new department for web site design, but I know nothing about PRO graphics software. Can you tell me what software to choose and what it will cost me?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Adobe Photoshop is a great application. Cost depends on the best price you can find, but budget at least $300-$400USD. Try pricewatch or ebay or just Google for it. Elements is the scaled down version, which costs around $60USD.

Adobe Photoshop is the world leader in Professional Photo/Picture editing software. Do be aware that you do need to do quite a few tutorials before everyhting makes sense.

You might also want to try Corel Draw graphics Suite X3, which has some excellent features that Photoshop does not have.

Do remember that Adobe Photoshop is more popular and so there are a lot of plug-ins for Photoshop for specialised graphic design.

If it is actual graphics and only a few pictures Fireworks is also pretty good, but no one know how long it will be around now that Adobe has bought Macromedia. It will most likely be integrated into Photoshop, which btw is beginning to get bloated.
