i'd say most people use winrar. Don't really know of any others, and it lets u split a file into multiple compressed files of a certain size as well.

Winrar is the most powerful for me. Especially when unpacking files that are a few Gigs.

I have both WinRAR and 7Zip. I am currently evaluating which one to keep. I used WinRAR on my desktop but since having my FZ160 I like 7Zip better.

yep, 7zip is the best hands down imo. 7z compression beats everything i've ever heard of in terms of filesize; plus it's free, open-source, and has a simplistic interface, supports lots of filetypes, and has features like self-extracting and password protected archives.

The archive tool that is best for you is the one that suits your personal preferences.

Different programs/format yield different results depending on the type pf file being archived, so calling one the best is not necessarily accurate

Personally, I cannot stand winrar's old cludgy interface, and 7-zip is very similar

If you took a broad average compression rate over multiple file types, the winner is a compression program called RK (use WinRK), followed up Rar (winrar), 7z (7zip) and then UHA (winuha)

Personally, I preferred tugzip's interface, but it has seem to stopped development. I use izarc now, but winuha is nice as well
