In my scheduled programs there is PM Task. What's it for? I see it's run whenever the computer is idle for 1 minute (probably preset, as I didn't set the schedule myself). Is it important to run it so often?

PM - Preventive Maintenance ?! (not sure)
You could check its details and location, and is it taking up a considerable amount of memory when running ? -
Windows XP or Vista???
I cannot see any "PM" task here >> http://support.microsoft.com/kb/939039/en-us
Edit: I couldn't find anything with XP either. Can you please get us more details or even better, a screenshot? Thanks -
It's in Thinkpad Utilities, file name is PWMIDTSK.exe.

Pretty old info, but may be useful nevertheless...

It's the PoWer Manager IDle TaSK. Don't get rid of it.
(How did I figure this out? I loaded PWMIDTSK.EXE into a text editor and
looked for strings.)

BUT WAIT............. Googling this returns of LOTS of threads where this .exe file name takes place in discussions related to viruses n trojans.....
So I really don't know.. and given that its from Thinkpad apparently, its very strange google returns almost blanks on this utility....
Anyway... Check in google for yourself!!! -
Thanks! I guess it may be better to post on Lenovo forum
