I have a laptop with a built in card reader and I also have an extra 2gb SD card laying around. Is there anything beneficial I can do with these items? Can I use the SD card for permanent ReadyBoost, or get tricky-er and put the pagefile on it or something?

There was another thread similar to this: Thumbdrive as pagefile?
Personally, it seems like, at least in theory, that the flash memory should have faster access times than your hard drive, though as someone else mentioned in the other thread, it may only be faster for reads and not for writes. I'd say test it out and see if it has any effect on performance.

u can use it for hiding all your Digital Pr0n Stash ;D

for Pagefile its not good unless u have only 512 MB RAM

    or 1 GB.

but i assure u that 2 GB RAM is way way way better than using Readyboost.

i have tried and Tested before upgrading to 2 GB finally.

Check first if your SD card is Readyboost compatible. My Sandisk one isnt.

hmm. I stuck the card in this morning and tried to use it for readyboost. right clicking 'properties', then 'readyboost', I was greeted by this message:

"A cache exists on another device in the system. Please remove the cache from that device before creating a cache on this device."

I am assuming the cache that this message speaks of is the Intel Turbo Memory that came with the computer. From what I understand, 512mb of the Intel Turbo Memory is used basically as readyboost memory, so how can I disable the turbo memory so that I can use the 2gb of the SD card?

Another question: how do I tell if the card is fast enough to use for readyboost? I read some other sources that mentioned reformating the card to FAT32 to use for readyboost, is FAT32 file system faster than the FAT system it currently appears to be?

    edit: I have 2gb RAM
