So I just found out that if you want to get to your task manager, all you have to do is right click on the task bar and click task manager.

This whole time I've been doing control + alt + delete and thinking to myself how stupid Microsoft is for having the task manager so inaccessible :(

I feel like there's a whole mess of nifty Vista tricks that I am missing out on now lol...anyone care to provide any?

This "trick" was available since NT 4.0. [IMG]

    (Or even NT 3.5, I don't remember.)

LOL that's just great. I've literally been doing this for years since I've had Windows XP.

Don't feel bad, that's actually the correct way to do it, because sometimes right-click just doesn't work when something goes wrong in the system.

Bought to say, the only times I usually need to look at the task manager is when I have locked up my computer. :D

True, if you only know one way to get to task mgr, ctl-alt-del is it.

alt-f4 to shut down programs and the computer is also something everyone should know.

alt-tab to shift focus from one program to another.

f5 to reload your active browser.

ctrl-tab to shift focus from tab to tab.

    the list goes on.

You think ctrl + alt + del is the long way

I have been using Win+r and then running task manager from the run box for ages, think its a hangup as I use the run box and command prompt for a lot of stuff at work.

Ok good, I knew all of those except ctrl-tab.

I also learned about the window key + 1, 2, etc. recently. And the window key + tab lol

    Anything else?

I feel like the biggest newb right now, even though I've been using Windows since 95 :p

The easiest way to open the task manager is ctrl-shift-esc (this was mentioned earlier).

You are not alone. I just knew the trick of right click and CTRL-SHIFT-ESC from this thread. All I knew before was CTRL-ALT-DEL since that's what I knew from XP.

CTRL-ALT-DEL is an easy hand gesture for me (the "three-fingered salute" to long-time users). Guess I've just gotten so accustomed to it that its an automatic response to computer problems.
