Okay, tonight I couldn't feel asleep so while loooking around and thinking what to do I've got eye on my poor little thinkpad.. Now, a question, I have 3 laptops, and using all 3, daily. I have 1 My Passport 1TB drive (which is about full), what I wonder at this point, can I install WHS on my ThinkPad and access to my data when I'm away from Home?

This will save me the trouble of what I laptop I should take with me and if one of those crash. My ASUS crashed one week ago, and I've lost some documents (had a backup), but I'd had to wait untill I got home again.. (I have 2 diffrent adresses, don't get confused).

Can I also do the most basic tasks? Such as Skype etc.?

One last thing, my main problem about this setup is that when I'm at home, I usually have my WD MP 1TB connect to my TV (my TV has a USB port). This is because I don't have any other laptop connected to my TV at the moment so my music listing goes through there rather on my HP's speakers which is blown. Now, I also connect my external drive to my TV when I want to watch movies, but then again, I could do the same on the WHS I guess, but I do not prefer this because for some reason my .mkv movies looks much much better when playing from directly from my TV. Is there anyway so my external drive can be connected to my TV and my WHS at the same time?

Ugh, my TV also does have a ethernet connection, if it helps, but I dunno if it can read storage devices trough there.

The specs of my Thinkpad is really not a problem, I can equip it with 8GB DDR2, P8400 (or even T9600) and some SSD or maybe 1TB HDD.
Looking forward for your answers and suggestions..

Go for it. You might want to look into an Ethernet hub for the extra devices connecting to the ThinkPad

    cheers ...

What do you think about specs.?
P8400, 4GB single stick, WD Blue 320 GB good? Ah and the GPU is nVidia Quadro or somethin..

    Also, can I remote connect?

Also, Windows Home Server 2008 or 2011? I want to try a trial version before buying anything..
