    I ran IOBit Smart Drfrag and it stated while it was analysing that my WDI\{67144949-5132-4859-8036-a737b43825d8} folder was corrupted. I wanted to know if this can be fixed without a vista reinstall.
    What does this folder control anyway? Any help is and will be greatly appreciated.

    First off, try HDTune , it has options to test the drive for errors.
    Secondly, for defragging, I recommend Disk Keeper or some other defraggers, something with J, can`t really remember it though.
    If a folder is corrupt, might be a bad sector or just incomplete data.
    There isn`t a need to reinstall Vista for that.

    Yeah you should scan your disk as @eleron911 says.
    WDI stands for Windows Diagnostic Infrastructure. It's a collection of diagnostic tools that can help find the source of many common disk, memory and network problems. Maybe this folder contain logs of WDI scans..

    Thanks for the advice, I am running HD tune right now. The Program that you were thinking of is JkDefrag. I had seen it in the latest issue of Windows Vista Magazine @ the Borders in town.

    @atthegates
    Thanks for the info.

    BTW how can you recover corrupted files and folders? The HD Tune had a scanner and the scan cleared. Could it be a Registry issue?
    And if so, is there a way to patch this?

    I should make myself Clearer - the scanner said nothing was wrong with the HD. So it is my assumption that it is a file or reg issue. am I correct?

    Maybe.
    Try a Registry Cleaner program, either Registry Mechanic or Doctor,or CCleaner ...
    I use TuneUp utilities and CCleaner to keep the registry both clean and defragment it.
