Is "Not seeing Vista partition but Vista sees W7 partition" on a dual-boot considered a bug or problem?

Right clicking on the properties of a hard drive and clicking on disk cleanup there is a reference to Vista. Simple language bug.

I believe that help and support is not yet online. I don't have it either.

Easy fix. Type partition in search menu, then open the partition manager and assign Vista a drive letter. Then W7 will be able to see it.

No. I went into Computer Management/Storage/Disk Management and assigned a drive letter to the vista partition by right clicking on the unamed partition. Now accessible.

Not sure you should consider lack of Beta driver support for specific systems as a bug, though..

But it restarted and restored all my tabs, so it's only 30 seconds gone.

Mine did not crash. It greyed out for a few seconds but restored itself. It is a major improvement from the betas available online. I tried IE8 B2 on my Vista and it crashed all the time. Moreover, the Asus form submission app, which I love btw :), does not work all the time and when IE8B2 is installed, Asus NB PROBE gives debug errors and fails to display stuff.

Can't. SAS seems to make Kaspersky turn off some of its services, and SAS makes my EEE screen turn black. Second time I've tried installing, same results. On my Inspiron 9100, I got a bsod.

I came out of hibernate and didn't have a taskbar. Logging off and on fixed the issue. Sent feedback.

When people report applications not working, at this point I think it's only a bug if the application doesn't work in compatibility mode. Kind of unfair to say there's a problem with applications installed normally in 7 when applications couldn't be written to be compatible with future operating systems.

I've had some issues and I've reported them.

The taskbar sometimes flickers at random when refreshing webpages and mousing around the UI in both IE and Firefox. When I hit print screen to take a screenshot of this, however, the taskbar looked fine in the picture. I suspect it's Intel graphics driver issues, but I don't know.

Moments after putting the computer to sleep the first night, it woke up again. This only happened once so far, so I'll count that as an anomaly for now.

Snipping Tool left a button on the taskbar even though it wasn't pinned, and the app was closed.

That's all I have right now.

Not sure if anyone else has had this. The whole taskbar flickers, then has a solid blue line, it goes away once the mose is run the whole length of the taskbar.

    1. Wireless performance (Intel 4965 AGN) much worse (nearly a deal-breaker) compared to Vista. Poor drivers?

    2. Half the time I have no mouse/keyboard after the desktop loads and I'll have to power off. Then it'll be fine.

Did you install any of the Dell Vista drivers? To be certain my system was somewhat stable, I installed the system software and chipset drivers, and I had to replace the default Atheros drivers with modified ones (I just love how unstable the 945GM is with Vista Atheros drivers). I haven't had any problems yet. I would definitely install the latest Vista 4965 drivers from Intel or Dell.

In fact, I installed quickset and the touchpad drivers, and everything went without incident. It doesn't seem like much changed, driver wise, from Vista to 7.

    somethings i don't like:

when i shutdown it does still not do the pretty fadeout and fadein to shutdown. it didn't on vista for some reason. first, it flashes to the logoff screen, then flashes back to desktop, and _then_ does the pretty fade-out thing. i KNOW i had this working correctly once in vista but not for a long long time. it's those tiny things that can make it annoying unpolished sometimes..

but the biggest issue for me: i can't add network shares from my windows home server to the libraries. that one is a really big issue right now, as it would be the only real-big-thing for me about win7 right now.

same as the annoying default menu on rightclick on the tray components instead of the newstyle popup by default as well.. it's those tiny things... :)

but i really liked the setup. i loved vista setup so far, and it's a big step forward again (and hating the xp setup on the eee right now that i try to fresh install)

Did you install the connector software? I have no problems adding library locations from my WHS. I added my DVD share to VMC and added all my pictures to the Picture library.

Is your WHS in your workgroup?

(To clarify - added DVDs only to VMC, pictures added to the Windows 7 picture library)

I just noticed mine shuts down weird. It brutally switches my screen off and then takes the power off. In Vista this process is done smoother.

It can be because I don't have all my Asus drivers on and power management.

Have you guys put Verbose mode on it? I love seeing what it does :).

    for those who don't know...

    run--->gpedit.msc---Adm. Templates--->System---scroll down, verbose enable.

For the 4965, I've tried the Windows 7 drivers, the Dell Vista drivers, and the 12.2.0.0 drivers from Intel. All with the same result.

I tried installing the chipset drivers from dell once, but was unable to do so. Said "Operating System Not Supported."

I've installed Windows 7 four times now, with the last using only the Windows 7 supplied drivers.

Yes. I know you have been having troubles with Vista. Hope 7 is the answer!

Wish I could get my quick launch buttons and fingerprint reader working under 7, but I'm afraid I am going to have to wait for future driver support.

    Installed the following :

    1. NAV 2009 Gaming Edition --->Works flawlessly.
    2. In order to Install my Utils I had to set compatibility mode to Vista. Asus Driver DVD would not work. So far my Asus utils (Power4Gear, Power4Phone, Consoles, ATK, etc)----> they work, except I had a weird experience with power4gear. At startup, by using fn+space to change it from entertainment to high performance, W7 displayed the rudimentary XP animantion and then switched to the fancy Vista one. Weird.
    3. Finger print reader works, however the Synaptics 64bit Vista drivers did not want to install. Maybe I need to try again.

Moving now to Office 2007 and CS4 Master :).

A screenie with all the asus apps on :).

Wanted to attach screenie and IE8 does not let me. Gives errors.

Minor iTunes/NOD32 problem here. NOD32 itself seems to work fine, but iTunes has a problem updating library files (gives a permissions error message) and pretty soon a message pops up from the Taskbar saying I need to run chkdisk.

I re-installed Win 7 and iTunes but not NOD32. All worked fine. I then installed NOD32 and the problem returned. So then I placed an exception in NOD32 to ignore the iTunes folder in Music and the problem went away. Everything else is fine so far!

When selecting multiple wmv/mpeg, right clicking, and selecting play, the screen flickers at least once for each file selected prior to playing the first video. After that, the videos play ok.
