First it would not auto-play, so I attempted to view it from Windows Explorer which told me that there was no data on the CD. I tried 3 different audio CD's to no avail, one of which Vista did in fact read about 3 weeks ago! There was a Vista update which auto downloaded before this happened, so this might have something to do with it. What is even weirder is that I opened Windows Player Classic which read it fine (not so with VLC player). Does anyone know what the problem is and/or if it is the sign of even bigger problems? My drive plays DVD's and HD-DVD's fine BTW.
I apologize if this question has been asked before but I did a search and nothing came up. Thanks in advance everyone! :D

That has never happened to me. The problem may be the fact that you have the Windows Media Player x64 version as default and it doesn't have any x64 codecs installed.
Media Player Classic relies on 32bit codecs, which are always installed by default.
