So I just got my Asus F3T a few days ago, and I'm pretty happy with it, except for the fact that some process is making my hard drive work nearly 100% of the time....

All I have open is Firefox with rmclock in the tray....

    i'm getting a little concerned :-/

Vista could be doing file indexing, which should reduce once everything is indexed. You could try turning off indexing. This can be done under the power plan customisation (and should be set to happen when running on battery - does the HDD activity reduce when running on battery?).

What processes does Task Manager show are using up all the CPU time?

You can find out more about what is using your HDD with these SysInternals utilities.

PS: Or is something continuously writing a log file? Check the RMClock monitoring window and make sure you have not selected Log Monitoring Data.

Just a small comment -- eventually after your files are indexed that HDD activity will go down to zero (with relation to the indexing at least). It might be worth it to let Vista finish its indexing in case you need it in the future.

That is, if you perform a lot of searches on your files.

Give it around a week. All should be well by then.
