When I put the notebook on stand by at night vista always seems to wake up the computer in the middle of the night.

I have made sure that there are no scheduled tasks set to run at night.

    Any ideas? Thanks

My Vista desktop occasionally does similar thing. Put it to sleep, wakes up after 30 seconds. On second attempt it stays asleep.

You might go Device Manager to check if one of your network adapters is set to "Allow the device to wake the computer".(right-click - properties - Power Management)

Check for updates on your drivers. I had a similar problem with sleep and it was caused by Nvidia, the leader in system crashes/problems according to a study a while back.

Just out of curiosity, what is your power plan set to? High Performance? Balanced?

I had a similar issue that went unresolved when I set the computer to High Performance. x86 and x64

Edit: On Balanced, sleep/hibernate works just fine.

My little sister's computer does the same thing, except it does not work the second time around. No matter how many times I try, her desktop will not sleep or hibernate without waking itself up after 30 seconds or so.

Same here, I noticed it was due to windows live messanger lol. I stay connected on sleep mode and if someone talks to me....

This is bad because my C90S could melt if the lid is closed
