    Hey there,

I am sure some of you out there when you used XP, like me, changed the theme back to the old windows classic style. I did that because I liked the old school style much more than the "fat" themes.
I am just wondering, are anyone of you out there who switched to vista but are still using the old school theme without the eye candy by choice? (not because you are not able to run them, but you like the old one)

Please no "vista sucks" replies, I know what vista, xp, linux, are, I use them all daily - I have to. Each type/variation of os serve its purpose for my need, I don't have a preferred one. :)

    Not me ;)
I remember reading somewhere that with proper hardware Aero is actually faster and efficient than standard theme due to hardware acceleration. Therefore better have it unless you don’t like the look (which I personally think far better than the classic interface)

Yea, Aero uses the WDDM and the Windows Desktop manager, it is far more reliable and efficient than the XPDM-based Classic mode. I personally find the Classic in Vista too ugly.

I tried the standard scheme(mainly because I don't like cleartype) but it seems that many things are not complete in the standard and classic scheme so I end up give up.

I still have all the eye candy disabled and cleartype disabled as well. Feel much better.

Matlab would not install in Aero mode, so I had to switch to classic mode, and haven't bothered changing back since.
