    Hey all,

I bought my computer late may, before Microsoft offered the free upgrade. When my computer arrived I decided to not worry about re-installing Vista to clear out all the unneeded jumble.

I bought windows 7 within the first week it was available for pre-order, and it is not sitting next to me on the desk, begging to be released. But here is my queston:

It is recommended by a whole host of people to re-install the OS on a new computer before personalizing it and getting it operational, however, I chose not to do this. Now that windows 7 is here, would it be a good idea to re-install Vista FIRST before upgrading to windows 7? Bear in mind I just purchased the upgrade, which i hear keeps all the vista drivers and stuff, so would it be worth re-installing vista before upgrading to 7? or should I go for it?

you will have to upgrade, since you got the upgrade disk. unless you buy a retail disk, you cannot install win7 clean.

From what I understand, that is not correct. As long as the upgrade disc finds an existing installation (or proof thereof) it will install clean.
