I just installed Vista ultimate on my Vaio. A friend of mine installed it on his Thinkpad. On the bottom left corner of the screen you will find the "Switch between windows" icon. When my friend clicks it on his thinkpad he gets the graphical multi screen behind screen on his desktop. and it looks GOOD. When I do it, all I get is small icons that I choose between. Is this a compatibilty issue, my friend has a core 2 duo. I tried changing setting in the control panel but nothing helped. Also, my taskbars won't be clear they are plain grey. Anyone has the same problem? Someone please help.

    Thank You.

What graphics card do you have?

That's the major factor for using Vista's Aero interface (3D windows, Glass effect, etc).

    Intel shared.

    Edit: Intel shared 915GM :(

    So GMA 950.

Did you install the latest drivers from Intel that support Aero?

(Not sure if the GMA 950 supports the 3D window switch, but I know for a fact that it will run the glass effect).

Didn't see this edit until right now...

Unfortunately the GMA 915GM does not support Aero's glass or 3D features at all.

Yes, you should have run the Vista upgrade advisor before installing. I have the 915 also and it will run the Home Basic Edition only. It's a bummer as I love the eye candy of Aero. :(
