Alright - I'm having a possibly severe issue with my Vista notebook. When I open my computer, the Control Panel automatically opens. I cannot close it, at all. Alt + F4 doesn't work. Task manager won't open up. The hard drive light keeps showing up, but after about 10 minutes, it slows down. Still, nothing can be done about it... buttons won't work, etc. etc.

    Any tips?

Is this a new notebook? Did you reinstall Vista? When did this start?

maybe it's something totally different, but i'll rather ask, regarding the task manager not opening. what about the registry editor, will that open? (start -> run -> type "regedit" (without quotes) -> confirm) - in case that not, it can be caused by some variant of recent rogue-antiviruses, which are known to block these two things (among others).
    - but i'm guessing only, the issue may be caused by something different.
