Has anyone attempted putting Windows Vista on an HP Mini 1035NR? My spec's are the following:

    • Intel Atom N270 (1.6 GHz)
    • 2 GB Memory
    • 60 GB Hard-Drive (@4200 RPM)
    • Intel GMA 950

I think it will run decent... I did put Windows 7 on it and it runs pretty well. Am I crazy for even fathoming this idea? :p

It should run ok, the GMA 950 graphics are Aero certified. Also keep in mind that HP had Vista business on their VIA powered version...If it can work ok on there, it should run on yours.

Cool, I'm going to give it a whirl this weekend. XP is ok on it, but Vista is much better in my opinion. Still debating on whether I want to buy a 3rd upgrade license of Windows 7 for it... already ordered 2 for my desktops :D.

lol, if only you held out for the family pack-Three licences of 7 Home Premium for around 150 bucks!

Yeah, XP works, but it's so dated looking/feeling. I feel like i'm staring at a time warp whenever i use it (which is often)

Maybe I'll just order a 3rd anyway, as it'll equal the cost of getting the family pack none-the-less. Actually, one of the licenses was for a Pro version. So I'll have 2 Home Premiums with 1 Pro (for work purposes).

Edit: Maybe not, as the prices on Amazon show $119 for the Home Premium upgrade. I remembered that the promotional pricing ended on something like July 11th. Nuts.

You can search for older reviews of Dell Mini-12, as I recall it originally came w/ Vista and only 1GB of ram. It worked but didn't work very well with that much ram.

I'm not sure with the 60GB 4200 rpm hard drive, but 2GB of memory and an atom n270 1.6 ghz should be fine with Vista.

I've seen netbooks run Vista with Aero on GMA 950

The mini 12 had the Z series Atom and GMA 500, that was the main reason for the slowdown on that system.
