hi, i was considering upgrading to Win Vista and was wondering if it consumes more battery power since it's more graphic intensive...

and if this has been discussed already~i'm terribly sorry... it's late and i wanted to get to bed asap.

Not at all... Power saving in Vista is one of its pros! It may be more graphics intensive, but all the powersaving options (and automaticalities) largely compensate!

on the MSI wind I think it was, Vista got better battery life than XP and also scored better in 3DMark.

i'm using a W3J which came with XP

my dad's Compaq laptop came with Vista, which I downgraded to XP for my sister to use. (it came with an 'Upgrade your Windows Vista Experience, Anytime Upgrade' disc)

think my dad's Vista CD will work on my W3J?

    No. Either

    a) it has an OEM license which is tied to his computer

    or

    b) it's just an upgrade disc without an actual license.

Uh oh... you didn't just ask that question...

Really, just search. It's not like that topic never gets discussed or anything.

    Heh. It depends.

Performance-wise, the two seem fairly close at this point.

I like it. Other people like it. Other people hate it.

You might as well give it a shot? Just go in with an open mind and a willingness to try new things.

sigh... i'm not too thrilled having upgraded to vista...

why is it that Power4Gear's power profiles won't change the screen brightness when i switch between profiles?

Fn+F5/6 works, but P4G itself isn't automatically switching power saving settings like it used to on windows XP, makes me wonder what else it isn't doing...
