    Vista Ultimate to 7 Home Premium

    I planned on upgrading to 7 Ultimate, then I saw the price :mad: I had a beta key since the release, but I never installed.

    So question is can I go from Vista Ultimate to 7 Home? For 50$ I think I want to since I'll have this computer for another year :)

    I called Microsoft:
    You can use Windows 7 Upgrade disk.. but it will be in the sense to license upgrade and not OS upgrade. Meaning that you will need to do a clean install.
    My guess is that the setup will ask you Vista product key (or insert the disk) and then Win7 product key and do a clean install. So backup your things before. It will be just like if you had Windows 2000 or XP and want to upgrade to Windows 7.

    Windows 7 Upgrade will feature both 32 and 64-bit editions (on the same disk or separate... I don't know, but based on Microsoft site, both are included.)
