Ok... my gateway just crashed on me this morning right before I had to leave for school...

It started up with the startup repair... nothing can be done automatically it says and the problem signature is:

    Problem event name: StartupRepairV2
    Problem Signature 01: AutoFailover
    Problem Signature 02: 6.0.6000.16386.6.0.6000.16386
    Problem Signature 03: 6
    Problem Signature 04: 393226
    Problem Signature 05: 2
    Problem Signature 06: CorruptFile
    Problem Signature 07: 3221226017
    Problem Signature 08: 2
    Problem Signature 09: SystemRestore
    Problem Signature 10: 0
    OS Version: 6.0.6000.2.0.0.256.1
    Locale ID: 1033

And it lets me view diagnostic and repair details... and the one thing that seems wrong is this:

    Root cause found:
    ----------------------
Startup Repair has tried several times but still cannot determine the cause of the problem.

    ----------------------
    ----------------------
    Session details
    ----------------------
    System Disk=\deive\harddisk0
    Windows directory = C:\Windows
    AutoChk Run = 0
Number of root causes = 2

    AND this one

    Root cause found:
    ----------------------
Boot critical file C:\windows\system32\drivers\Wfd01000.sys is corrupt.

    Root cause found:
    ----------------------
Boot critical file C:\WDFLDR.SYS is corrupt

    ----------------------
    ----------------------
    Session details
    ----------------------
    System Disk=\deive\harddisk0
    Windows directory = C:\Windows
    AutoChk Run = 0
Number of root causes = 2

And this is found all the way at the bottom

    Root cause found:
    ----------------------
Boot critical file C:\windows\system32\drivers\Wfd01000.sys is corrupt.

    Root cause found:
    ----------------------
Boot critical file C:\WDFLDR.SYS is corrupt

    Anyone?... this seems prety bad

You could run a hard drive diagnostic...it could be a sign of a bad hard drive. Do you know what happened before the problem was caught. Was anything installed/uninstalled? Have you run a virus/spyware scan recently? Can you boot into Safe Mode? What specifically happens when you boot the machine?

I'd perform a repair installation or system restore using the Vista disc. If the startup repair doesn't work, that may be the next best thing to a full reformat.

Edit: Try running "sfc /scannow" from command prompt using the Vista disc. That will fix your system files that could have been corrupted.

I just restored to the 12th... hopefully it will now work

I installed photoshop demo, jashahka, and jah player and did a restart and all of this happened...

Nope the restore didnt work... I will try the Vista Disc now...

I hit F8 when booting... safe mode... goes right back to the startup repair...

I always get harddrive failures.... 2 in the past month... on 2 laptops... this is insane...

MOST of my files are already on my external HDD... but I have changed so many folders, names etc... so Im keeping my fingers crossed

Hopefully all goes well... and that I dont lose my game saves :O
And yeah... ill report back when its done reinstalling etc...

Why not use the Vista disc to get to a command prompt and then type in the following:

    sfc /scannow

That should check all OS files, and re-write the corrupt ones. Give that a shot before reformating.

    hahaha :D

    NO

I made the BACKUP folder that the process created (100gb:O) and I made it accessible to all and writable and I am copying it to my external hdd...
And then I will try to instal the rest of the drivers because it hung during the bluetooth
And if not I will just reinstal vista
