Hey guys. SP1 has been released to MSDN today. After much complaining, the MSDN team was able to get hold of the release. They released the stand alone installers for x86 and x64 both as an exe and an iso. No Vista and SP1 iso's yet.

The build number is as follows:

    6001.18000.x86fre.longhorn_rtm.080118-1840

Nice. It's ridiculous that MSDN and TechNet subscribers could not get SP1 before the general public. That's one of the main reasons people subscribe to those.

Agreed! I was steaming when MS released their orginal roadmap. I'm glad they reconsidered and I'm now sitting on a SP1 copy I'm sure is legit.

Funny, how torrent users could get the Vista SP1 RTM 10 days before MSDN

No emails, just a link on the subscription pages that you see on log-in

There is a glitch in the system somewhere as many people are unable to "see" the links on the subscription pages--no one knows why yet. Rather than drop the downloads into the normal MSDN/Technet downloads section, MS has place the downloads on a third-party server hosted by Akamai

Even then, a very good number of folks are having problems with the update failing when run. A quick glance through the technet forums seems to indicate the active Antivirus/malware programs may be at the heart of it. I also suspect that users with dual boot systems are having a greater issue due to the re-write of the MBR, but that's just me.
