Hi, I have the 64 bit version of Vista Home Premium and it is not utilizing my 4gbs of ram. When I'm running firefox and very little else, apparently I'm using 39% of my ram.

    Anyone have any solutions?

    Hi.

    I am using vista64 with 4gb and i am using 32%, it`s normal.

Vista buffers a lot of data in memory as it`s a lot quicker to access than the HDD.

    Regards

    John.

Vista loads a lot into your RAM to make it useful.

So what's your problem? Vista not ulitzing 4 GB of RAM? You have to run multiple memory intensive programs to utilize more RAM.

Do ctrl-Shift-Esc and select Performance to see the real RAM usage.

Just let Firefox run for a little while... it'll be using all your RAM soon enough. ;)

You're not supposed to use all of your RAM unless you need it. The rest of it is cached so programs can open faster, so no worries it's being used.

As stated, Vista uses upwards of 50% of your RAM by default.

To check how much RAM is available, look in the Task Manager as Wirelessman suggested (see attachment).

Vista is using about 1.5 gb of memory on your PC, which is normal, assuming you are running Vista Aero, or Vista Basic.
It's not a very good sign if 80-100% of 4gb of memory are being used when you are not running memory-intensive programs, such as games.

I have Vista 32, I lose 1G to start with, Lol. Plus vusta is using 1.7G, so total used is 2.7 over 4, which is 67.5%
