I'm curious how much difference there is in terms of system usage/resources between Vista Home Premium and Ultimate?

I am strongly looking to get a Sony Z with a 2.53ghz cpu, 4gb ram. I would probably choose HP vs Business, I kind of like the idea of built in media options. But I also could see myself using some of the business features.

Would Ultimate be noticeably worse than HP in terms of slowing down or hogging memory, etc? Since I want my laptop to handle quite a bit (regular stuff, virtual machines, etc) I don't want to go sucking it dry with Vista alone. ;)

Really? Dang, I was so mislead by Dell back when I got my M1330. :p No surprise. LOL. They told me it would suck up resources much worse than HP.

I might go for the upgrade through the ultimate steal. It doesn't have a link, but it does show it as being one of the offers. I am going to get the office for my new laptop anyway, so ... fingers crossed I can really get the Vista Ultimate upgrade on the cheap, too. ;)

    Thanks!

Notice the Additional Products to the left? Mouse over and one of three additional products it shows is Windows Vista Ultimate Upgrade w/ SP1 for $64.95. (Also, Office Visio Pro, and Office Language Pack)

Awww. OK, so I entered my email so I can do the Office offer and followed the link given ... it does show the Vista upgrade, but it is currently "Temporarily Unavailable." Boo! Hiss!

I wonder how long before it comes back. :/ The offer does state you can buy one of each item available ... so hopefully if I buy Office now I can get Vista later. I'm not so sure, but fingers crossed, because I have a feeling the Vista upgrade won't be popping up within the next week when I will likely order.

I don't remember them offered the Vista Ultimate upgrade previously, kind of nice. I think if you plan on needing the business features and want to keep the media features then Ultimate is for you. It won't be any different in terms of performance than HP.
