My T60 the other day started having problems with my desktop icons. There are two in particular that lose "association with the program", Outlook 2007 and OneNote 2007. If I click on them they bring up the program but the icon changes to the unassociated/generic type.

If I delete them and create a new one they look fine. If I click on them again they change and lose their association but they still work.

    I'm running Vista U (32) on a T60 with a T7200 and 3GB of ram.

It might be a virus problem. If it is not detected by your antivirus, then Check my signature. download Hiren's boot CD. extract the rar and you will get an iso file. mount it on a virtual drive ( daemon tools, virtual drive, ultraISO .. ). run it, select menu - > antivirus and antispyware - > spybot search and destroy.

Run the last program. It will take an update, so make sure that you have it connected to the internet. It will take around 20 mins. SELECT - search and destroy.

Try resetting/rebuilding the icon cache. I think RegToy provides an option to do so.
(Set a Restore Point if doing this)

I found a solution Windows XP Pro. :) I decided to go back to the OS my T60 came with. I never had any issues with it.
