I just completed a clean install of Vista Business on my laptop but need some help on the screensize and wireless.

My screen has shrinked down, and I do not have wireless connectivity. I am connected to the internet right now by wired ethernet connection.

My video card is the Intel X3100 and my wireless is through Intel 4965AGN.

    Thanks in advance.

Or maybe Dell or Sony's home page. (depending on what laptop you have) One thing I really like about Dell is the ease of getting the correct drivers for my particular machine. I think they do an outstanding job on that.

Wow...that was so easy...I just searched keyword "Sony" in Google and it led to me directly to their site for downloading drivers. I downloaded 3-4 drivers, just rebooted, and am in Vista Business, unloaded. Screen resolution fixed, wireless problems fixed, Aero problems fixed. Clean installed Vista is running even faster than my Vista Home Premium OEM. Thanks to the posters above for the advice on getting the drivers.

I just noticed one little problem though...when I play music and plug earphones into my laptop, the music plays through the laptop's speakers...not my earphones...is this another driver issue?

Are you sure you don't have the earphones plugged into the mic jack? :D

Yes it is a driver issue. Unlike 99.9999% of all the laptops the FZ series Sony (and maybe others) do NOT use a hardware switch to switch off the speakers when the headphone jack is used. I have no idea why, but it is done via software!!!! This has been documented elsewhere (see the SONY fourm).

I double checked that! :) The other sound problem is that even after I lower the sound as low as it can go (with the physical button above keyboard), there is still like a little volume...it shows in the system tray, and when you play a song, you can faintly hear it...

Is there any way to fix this?

EDIT: Fixed with the SigmaTel High Definition Audio Codec driver...problems these days seem to all be solved by software drivers!

Thanks Gary, I guess I'll have to go back to look for those drivers...although one driver I didnt see use for was the Alps Pointing Device Driver...I know it was with the notebook when I first got it but I have not reinstalled it since my clean install and my touchpad works the same way...so what is the point of that driver....

Which drivers out of the site (in the "Original" tab) do you think are necessary? I have already downloaded and installed a few of them, including Intel Graphics Media Accelerator Driver, Setting Utilities Series, Sony Utilities DLL, VAIO AV Mode Launcher, VAIO Camera Capture Utility, and Wireless Switch Setting Utility. I am just downloading the SigmaTel High Definition Audio Codec driver.

Which important ones am I missing, and did I download any drivers which are not really needed?
