I'm trying to decide if paying the extra cash for the OS is worthwhile as I will be getting an OEM copy of x64 Ultimate in the future after I've bought the new laptop. From what I've read the main differences between the two are the Aero interface, pluggable log-in authentication architecture (no idea what this is), Rights Management Client, Media Centre and Movie Maker HD.

Anyone have recommendations as to whether the differences warrant the extra cash when I order or whether I can wait until my new laptop arrives before going for x64 Ultimate which has all those features and more?

If you're going to upgrade to ultimate anyways, save your money. Because ultimate does have all those features and more.

Same thought here - save your money and just get x64 sooner.

That's settled then, thanks to both for the advice.
