    Hi,

I ve a Vaio Z71 with Japanese Vista 64bits premium and want to upgrade to Windows seven in same language.
So i trie to order from japanese microsoft store to get the japanese update for W7 premium but they cancelled my order because my credit card is was not issued in Japan.

So if i buy an upgrade version on French microsoft store can i get in place update from vista japanese to w7 japanese??
Or the upgrage software only contaiint the french version??

i am lost and cannot understand wht microsoft refrain to developp international version instead of providing mui for expensive versio.

    thanks

It's likely that it's not gonna work with a french upgrade disk. What about ordering on amazon.co.jp instead of microsoft store ? That's assuming you'll pay for an upgrade disk of course, if you're talking about a free windows 7 upgrade disk, then your SOL.

Windows 7 Ultimate includes all language packs so you could go with that. All other versions do not.

The keys however work on all languages it seems. So if you can get a Windows 7 disk which has the Japanese version and then use a French key it will work and activate. So you can buy the normal French version and look around for a DVD with the Japanese version. Did you download the RTM when it was available for download? that would workç

Thanks a lot for your support, indeed th fact is that upgrade to ultimate will work but since i bought a laptop with japanese vista i really want to keep japanese system as i am familiar with this OS language.

The really thing is that is nearly impossible to upgrade to W7, and don t want to pay twice the price to get the upgrade i should be able to obtain.
I found japanese upgrade disc for 229 dollars, and checked Amazon.jp seems they don't sell outside Japan: it s written in english in the item description...

So are you sure that if i pay my upgrade disc 119 euros there i can use the windows key with a japanese upgrade disc, i have to find support from Microsoft to be sure of buying a liscense i can use.

Anyway if i can t install on my japanese Z i still can update my "old" Asus F3sv.

No i didn t downloaded RTM version before, because Z laptop had such issues to get properly function under w7, but i check microsoft website and seems they still offer for free version of RTM W7.
Can i get W7 japanese RTM and proceed to updgrade from my vista 64( want to keep my installed programs). after upgraded i have to upgrade again? is RTM ok with liscensed key?

quite hard task to get my w7... i may stay with my vista

Let me get this straight, you have Vista Home Premium, right ? So why would it be nearly impossible to upgrade ?

It's too bad Amazon doesn't ship Windows 7 abroad, must be a Microsoft policy, because I already ordered from them when I was not in Japan.

I'm not sure about the french upgrade key with a japanese disc thing, but I'd rather agree with Wave. The keys are supposed to work with any windows 7 ISO, since all the versions are in each ISO. To get the language is different though, as either you get the japanese ISO, or you include the MUI yourself. Second solution is quite technical however if you don't have Ultimate, since it implies you actually include the MUI yourself.

Did you actually try to contact SONY France to see if they can help you with this issue ?

And what about buying your upgrade on Microsoft website ? They propose you to download it, which means no problems with shipping restrictions and a nice 229$ price (about 145€ when converted).

    Just my 2 cents.
