I am going to try to run Mac OS X Tiger (VMWare Emulated) on Vista Ultimate x64.

I'll post updates later. If anyone has done it and wants to share with their experience feel free ^.^.

This thread will most likely be closed as many previous similar Mac OS questions; because installing Mac OS X on non Apple hardware is illegal.

Why should it be? If you bought it it shouldn't be illegal.

You can't buy an x86 version of OSX without buying a whole Mac - yet. Leopard's release could introduce some interesting possibilities however, especially with Santa Rosa laptops supporting EFI. There's still hope for Apple releasing OSX for general commercial use - I know I'd pick up a copy. Either way, for now it's illegal, though some may argue that Apple's attempts to lock OSX to its own hardware is a violation of the GPL under which the BSD kernel - which OSX is based upon - is released, and Apple hasn't brought suit against any of the "Hackintosh" community, to my knowledge.

Well, I guess its not really illegal in the sense that you'd be arrested, but you are violating their EULA by installing OS X on a PC. Apple's EULA, which you must Agree to before OS X will work, states that you agree you are running OS X on an Apple computer. So by agreeing to it, and not following it, you aren't doing illegal activity, but you are breaching the "contract".

Which IMHO would just leave you up a creek without a paddle if you wanted support. But EULA's (aka "click-wrap licenses") have been challenged to varying degrees of success. Basically, it's untested legal territory, but if he bought a legit copy of OSX I see no problem with him talking about his experiments with it.

I didnt know it was illegal to run OS X on a PC until just recently. I would be pretty interested in buying a copy of Leopard just for fun if it were legal to boot on a PC.

I wonder how it would look having OS X Leopard and Vista running simultaneously or whatever through VMWares or something.

I think a lot of you don't realize...OS X being limited to Apple hardware is a big reason why OS X is so great. Lack of driver issues, lack of viruses (for now)...they're all factors that make OS X great, and making OS X available far and wide would destroy that.

I hope the OP manages this it would be cool. I hope Leopard is able to run on PC despite driver issues & viruses. If you want to you should be able to & VMWaring it shouldnt voilate anything.

I just got my laptop today from newegg (see my sig). I chose 3-day delivery from UPS, and I got it next day after they shipped it out!

I am at work right now but Ill post here later to let you all know if I had success with Mac OS X.

And yes it will be emulated in VMWare for testing and learning purposes.

Discussing illegal activities is not allowed on the forum.
(Breaking the EULA is illegal and it's against the forum rules)
Don't bring up this discussion again.
