I'm unsure if this is a banned thread topic, if it is, i apologize and request deletion.

I have a Dell, my roommate has a VAIO, having played with the power Management sony addon thingy i'm wondering if anyone else has ever managed to get it to work on a non-vaio.
After struggling with the system maker check in the original install exe i used Universal Extractor to just get the installers out and ran it that way... I'd recommend using the ones from the official Sony FTP the TZ1 Util's package is my personal recommendation... just install the Sony Utils DLL and Sony Shared Library and then the power management app... It should work, if not let me know... My roommate has a TZ series, and his has several options mine lacks, like turn off optical drive when on battery... etc, im guessing theres something unique to his optical drive that allows it to be disabled by VPM...

I do however have a problem im wondering if someone else might be able to help me with... The Vaio power management viewer thing that installs in mine is broke. If anyone with a Vaio running Vista could perhaps copy me 2 tiny lil files... Im trying to find out what makes this one tick, i think its the DLL i have that might not be the proper version?
And secondly The Battery Care Function is also a VAIO thing i'd like to try and get working on a non-Vaio laptop, but ive heard conflicting reports about how it functions, some mentioning it uses the VAIO Bios which would make its liberation impossible... If this is the case does anyone know an alternative program one might be able to use that does the same thing?

    Thanks for any help :)

Can you recommend a replacement then?
Ive tried NHC, and it doesn't have alot of the options that VPM had on my roommates VGN-TZ laptop... And it certainly doesn't have the battery care function... Like i cant find an option in NHC, to when on battery disable the internal modem, NIC and optical drive...
Maybe i missed the option somewhere...

That only reduces the CPU usage though wouldnt it? And i can do that without that app... Heck the vista ACPI can do it without any help, just set max CPU usage while on battery to like 35%
