    Using the d,m,s system as numbers in Excel 2007/2010

    For my lab report on hydrogen's spectral series, I need to use degrees/minutes (my measures are in that). How can I use this system in Excel? My friend was able to in OpenOffice so it should be in Office 2007/2010...

    One thing I could think of is witing a visul basic macro...

    Or right click a cell, -> format cells -> and have a look there, but I was unsuccessful.

    Hmm. I think I'll just do a side table with the values in decimals and then do the excel calculations through it.

    Since it's there natively in OO, I'm it is in MSO, just need to find it....hard thing to do haha

    Ok thanks for the input. My calculator has the convert function so I'll check which one is quicker. I may also try using the values as a time format since both are in base 60

    The advantage of writing a macro is that you can batch convert a large amount of data in Excel.
