If upgrading from vista home premium to vista ultimate on my laptop, will it just replace the OS but keep all the drivers intact or must I reinstall all the individual drivers after upgrading the OS?
and what about the partition that holds the factory OS & drivers, will these get wiped out?

i don't think so you need to re-install the drivers , if you're doing a in-place upgrade .... as far as i know upgrade option wont touch anything other than targeted partition

If you do an "upgrade", then they will stay intact. If you do a "clean install" then everything will be wiped out and you'll have to install them all again.

If you're doing an upgrade as in using a DVD labelled "upgrade" then not only will your drivers not be touched, but none of the system files will, as a general matter, be touched - largely the "upgrade" will consist of changing your product key to reflect the new _Vista version, unlocking some of the functionality of existing files, and adding a bunch of additional system files.
