I found one of these awhile back, but no longer have it. Basically I'm looking for a nice, small tool that can be used to insert any Unicode character into a Word document, given its hex code. Particularly important are mathematical characters. Right now I'm copy-pasting characters from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unicode_Mathematical_Operators, but it'd be nice to not have to rely on Wikipedia and the Internet consistantly being available.

I'd just as soon write everything out by hand, but my professor wants otherwise...consequently getting the symbols in Word takes as long as the actual homework :(. Word has some of them, but not all.

You tried using Word's Equation Editor right?
Also you can turn on NumLock (usually Fn + some other key) and hold down Alt while typing out the character code using the numpad, and release Alt and your character will show up. The character code must be in decimal though.
For example for U+2200 (∀ ;), 2200 in hex is 8704 in decimal. so turn on NumLock, hold down Alt and type in 8704 on the numpad and then release Alt.

I'd tried the symbols editor, just checked the equations and they don't contain the symbols I need, either. The NumLock+letters does work, though. And Microsoft Calculator will convert hex-> decimal easy enough, so that'll work. The tool I had before was a bit more convenient, though - just type in the hex (without requiring NumLock, which is troublesome without a dedicated NumPad), hit enter, and, voila! unicode character is there.
